Update Wednesday, July 15th, 12:31 PM
Hi. The visiting nurse left a short while ago. She Indicated that the wound was much improved. Linda's doctor reduced the amount of diuretics she must take,but, otherwise, meds remain the same as when Linda left the hospital ( blood thinners, blood pressure, stomach pills for acid reflux, calcium, electrolytes, etc. ). Linda is now taking a nap but ,when she awakes, I hope to take her for a walk around the circular driveway they have here. Emma is due to come by later today and Linda is, of course, looking forward to seeing her. Mandy continues to hold down the fort in McKinleyville. She was here over the weekend. Rascal was sick with intestinal problems but is now recovered, much to our relief ( as well as his, I'm sure ). Hot days, now, in Geyserville with temps in the high nineties. For folks rooted in Mendo for 5 years, and in McKinleyville for 5 years, these temps are difficult and, yet, reminicent of our days in Chico where the summers would reflect triple digit days, as a matter of course. All is well. John

Such continued good news is soooo good to read. The weather really is a BIG change for you. I hope that you can enjoy the warmth and relax in some coolness at night. Such an amazing journey you are on with your healing process. Know that I send my healing energy with much love, often. I so admire the courage you have! Blessings, Gina
ReplyDeleteLinda Lou, Not a day goes by that you don't pop into my head. I hope that you're getting stronger every day and soon you'll be able to finish recouping in your own home. Take good care. Love, pj
ReplyDeleteKeep remembering "one step at a time." Easy for me to say (!) but I know we both share the "impatient gene." I'm as anxious for you to get home & be done with this recovery business as you are!
ReplyDeleteHank & I will be at Stanford Mon, Tues, Wed next week for his shoulder surgery, pre-op, op, & post-op appts. Any chance we could connect someplace? Let me know at work email.
Lots & lots of love & best wishes,
Cheryl & Hank
Hi John and Linda;
ReplyDeleteI haven't written till now, but I have been following your blog and my heart and thoughts have been with you. I'm thrilled that things are continuing to progress as they should. Healing just takes soooo much longer than we expect!
As of July 1, I am officially retired after 36 years as an educator! I left on July 1 for a trip to Colorado with my sister and my mom (87 years old). We hiked (1-2 miles at a time) in the Rockies, toured around, and enjoyed the peak wildflower season. We saw moose and elk, marmots and beavers, lots of birds. I spent the spring recovering from a serious ankle injury, so it was great to get out and explore!
We'll be in and out all summer---20 members of my family will visit next week in conjunction with a retirement party; we'll be boating, fishing, camping; and happily at home gardening and starting to get things back in shape after 20+ years of working too many hours!
John---I have promised the staff at Redway School I would do one more thing for them. There has been growing friction between primary and intermediate staff for the past few years, which increased considerably under the principal of the last two years. I promised that I would find a mediator to work with them before school starts (Aug. 20 or 21). There will be a new principal (Julie Jacobson, formerly of Hydesville I think) and I think this is a perfect time to heal some wounds and come to some understandings. You come highly recommended. I've waited to contact you since I knew you had so much going on in your life. I'd appreciate if sometime you can give me a call or email me and let me know if this is even within the realm of possibility for you.
I look forward to hearing from you, and again want you both to know I think of you often.
