Linda had a rough morning with IV problems and shift changes keeping her awake. However, as the day progressed, she improved, had some sleep and was given a more suitable IV site that caused her less pain. Her white blood cell count is 13.5 ; it needs to be at 11 to be in the normal range. So, she is still getting antibiotics. Her Wound Vac was changed today and repositioned to offer her more mobility. The wound looked "good" as there were no signs of additional infection. Plans for release were discussed. We must arrange for a doctor in our area to agree to supervise the services of Home -Hospital nurses who will come to our home and offer follow up to the required Wound Vac changes ( every other day ) and other services she will need. I'll be making calls tomorrow to try to secure a doctor willing to provide this supervision and follow up. Linda's doctor, or doctors at St. Josephs in Eureka, may be able to assist. We''ll see. Option B is to stay in this area, for a week or more, depending on how the wound heals, and, if we can arrange for a doctor to agree to supervise the Home Hospital nurses.
Tonight, the staff told us that they were working on a private room for Linda. Let us hope that such a move actually occurs. I'll report again, tomorrow. John

Good morning Linda...Hoping you have been able to get as good of a night's rest as possible. I really understand the desire to get home. I hope the hospital services care is worked out and you are able to recuperate in the comforts of your own home. Praying for you here in Mendoland.
ReplyDeleteI'm keeping my fingers crossed for a private room TONIGHT! A good nights rest can't be beat. Hopefully the plans for returning home with follow up good care work out without too much trouble. Keep up the good work, both of you. My thoughts are with you.
ReplyDeleteLove, louise
Good Morning, Linda
ReplyDeleteI hope you are in your private room when this is read. Hospitals are not the place to really recoup are they? I know the day I went to visit my friend after gastric bypass surgery the place was a zoo in the hall with all sorts of people coming and going. Today is Sherry Gandee's last day and Mary Harper's retirement spread will be laid out for nibbling in an hour. Mary's is the last of the retirement bashes. I am sorry you have had to miss all the festivities. Art Cardoza is done now as is Jude Power. I think Janet is going to be here another couple weeks before she is done. Life goes on here. Cheryl has been out at various meeting most of last week and the beginning of this one. Yesterday was her first day back in the office. She and Sheila are finishing the Con Apps. Starting Monday I will be spending my first half hour of work each day at the Receptionist booth. I will work there 8:00 - 8:30 and cover lunch 12:00 - 1:00. They are very short handed. Mary's last day is Monday and Rich is in Oregon. His father is in very bad shape and things sound bad for him. Rich will be in Oregon for at least the next two weeks. Shannon has been on vacation for the last week and half. Poor Teri is putting on Mary's retirement feast alone. Some of us have chipped in to bring treats to help out. Admin has offered help as well. Paulette has been off the last two days. You should see her daughter. April is not due til August 1st but she is really big. PJ thinks the baby is going to be a big one. We are also thinking the baby will come sooner than Aug. 1st. PJ will be off for two weeks when the time comes. She is getting excited. Well that is all the office news I can think of. You take care. Keep sleeping as much as you can. We are here thinking about you every day and people ask about you every day. Take care!! Kathy
